BIO

Owen Wood is a freelance multi-instrumentalist hailing from North Carolina. Beginning his musical journey at age 10 with the Trombone, Owen quickly began teaching himself the Bass, Drums, Guitar and Piano.

Owen attended Davidson College, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science with a Double Major in Music and Psychology. During his time at Davidson, Owen served as the Drummer in the Jazz Ensemble, Bassist in several Jazz Combo groups, Lead Guitarist in several student-led and faculty bands, in-house pianist at a Church in Charlotte, NC, and played locally in the area both as a solo musician and in a number of bands. The opportunities to play a diversity of styles, events, and with different groups solidified his multifaceted talents, and continually refined his craft.

Owen has released an album as well as an EP, and continues to write and record. Additionally, he teaches students of all ages on Piano, Guitar, Bass and Drums, and is always happy to take on new students. And lastly, Owen performs both as a Solo Musician and with several bands throughout North Carolina. Some of his highlights include playing in and with The Versatiles (Guitar), the Process Group (Piano/Organ), Shed Bugs (Piano/Organ), Owen Wood Collective (Guitar/Vocals), Tenacious Trio (Drums), Business Casual (Guitar), Free Barbecue (Bass), and others. As a solo artist, Owen has performed at weddings, galas and fundraisers, breweries, retirement homes, churches, festivals and more. 

Owen's musical style incorporates a unique blend of theory, openness, and improvisation, allowing him to excel in a wide array of genres, including Jazz, Funk, Classical, Rock, and Blues. Owen also places an emphasis on the creative aspect, and strives to play a different setlist every single show, so that each show can be a unique experience that both he and the audience can share together.
